Entrance sign for Frontera Cocina

There are so many different food options that no matter what you are craving you are sure to find it at Disney Springs. Frontera Cocina Mexicana is one dinning options that you can not miss! This time around I only tried entrees, stay tuned for Drinking in the Springs, when I come back to try some adult beverages!

The Interior Decor

Today, I my Brother-in-Law and sister joined me and we each sampled a few items from the menu. As you first walk into the restaurant you are greeted with a bold sunburst tiled mural on the wall. There are splashes of cobalt blue and bright orange.

You will also see sculptures, and Día de los Muertos skulls, and beautiful artwork adorning the walls!

Once we sat at our table the waitress was AMAZING and I placed an order for the Mango Guacamole ($12). I was told this was a must-have dish and I have to agree. The guacamole was creamy and chunky, well seasoned, but the added sweetness of the mango heightened the flavor. There was a spice on-top of the mango that made it so delightful.

We also ordered an appetizer of chips and salsa ($5) and even were able to score a refill of the salsa! It had a green herby salsa verde and a red smoky chipotle.

The Main Course

For a main course my sister had the vegan enchiladas ($24). The enchiladas are topped with a smokey red sauce and is loaded sauteed vegetables.

For my brother-in-law he opted for the carnitas ($24). This is a slow-cooked pork shoulder with garlic and lime, black beans refritos with queso fresco, guacamole, pickled red onions, salsa verde, and 4 warm corn tortillas.

I had the Carne Asada Tacos ($24). This is a grilled steak, poblano rajas, black beans refritos with queso fresco, salsa verde, and guacamole. It also came with several (5) corn tortillas.

My Favorite

If you go here and try nothing else you must, I repeat, MUST get the Fried Plantains ($7). These are deliciously fried and sweet plantains that are topped with crema and cotija cheese. However, if you do not like crema you can skip this, but I can attest that this is a must have dish.

IMO

After visiting here I am already planning my next trip. My next trip will include the mouth-watering fried plantains and I might have to get a mixed cocktail.

The other item that really stood out to me was their straws. I know this is a topic of much debate. I hate plastic straws (save the turtles!) but also I hate the paper straws (save the trees!). They provided us straws made out of agave. These straws are biodegradable, but durable, feeling like plastic but not!!

Frontera Cocina offers great atmosphere, a little cramped and loud, but overall it was 5 stars for me. Their food of delightful, filling, and a flavor explosion in my mouth. They do offer Annual Passholder discount and accepts Disney Dining plans. I highly recommend this place and not sure why I put it off for so long.
