Restaurant Review: The Crystal Palace

The Crystal Palace Entry Sign

The Crystal Palace opened at the same time as Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971. When the restaurant opened it was a cafeteria-style experience.

However, this changed in 1996 when the format of the dining experience changed to an “all you can eat” buffet featuring character dining.

At this time, the restaurant began to be referred to as The Crystal Palace, A Buffet with Character. Featuring beloved characters: Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

The Crystal Palace Breakfast and Dinner options

When you arrive at The Crystal Palace to the left of the entrance is where you actual check in. There you can inform them of any allergies, special occasions, or dietary preferences.

At the window they have a great brochure that is of the current items they serve. This is a rotational menu, but it does break down which items contain eggs, nuts, milk, and other allergens.

Disney Dining Plans are welcomed at The Crystal Palace, but be sure to double-check that your plan is included.

Welcome to The Crystal Palace

Once our name was called we were escorted to our table, but not without passing Pooh inspired topiaries.

The center foray is luscious greenery featuring Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. This is very inspiring for the upcoming Epcot Flower and Garden Festival!

Dining Options

The Crystal Palace is an “All You Care To Enjoy” buffet, starting at $55 for lunch and dinner. You have numerous options to fill your plate up! Included is Prime Rib and Pork Loin carving stations, chicken wings, corn bread, salad bar and more.

You are able to go back as many times as you want, but keep in mind if you put in on your plate you should be eating it.

Sweet Treats

Dessert buffet at The Crystal Palace

The dessert offering made me want to stuff my bag full of take home sweets (this is not allowed).

I did over load my plate to try the different options. They had red velvet cake, cheesecake, pudding, ice cream and a few more.

However, you can not skip the s’mores. This was by far the best dessert, probably ranking as best in the park. Okay, maybe not that good, but it was up there. I highly recommend going here and trying every last dessert!

Vegan and Vegetarians Don’t Fret

While I have spoke about the “non-vegan” options, don’t worry, Disney has you covered.

I spoke with the cast members at check in and at my table. They offer numerous options at the buffet and the chef will come out and talk to you.

They have little leaves next to the options that do not contain animal products! This is very exciting.

Options for on the buffet include: salad, corn, mashed potatoes (vegetarians), bread options, and other assorted vegetables.

At this time I do not know what the chef will prepare, but I will update once I go again with my sister and brother in law to try it out!

Winnie the Pooh and Friends

A huge benefit to dining at The Crystal Palace, and must character dining experiences is: The Characters.

I was able to have more one on one time with the different characters and did not feel pressured. I hate waiting in line to meet a character only to feel rushed because the long line behind me.

At The Crystal Palace, the different characters will walk around to each table. They will meet everyone, sign autograph books and interact with the guest.

If you forgot your autograph, don’t worry, Disney has you covered. Ask you waiter or waitress for one and it will be added to your bill! How is that for service?!

Final Thoughts

Eeyore visiting the tables

I highly recommend booking a meal at The Crystal Palace. The food is worth it alone, but the character interactions make it worth more. There is so much to look at and the view from a window seat is spectacular.
