Restaurant Review: Prime Time Cafe

Prime Time Cafe entrance neon sign

I have walked by the 50’s Prime Time Cafe, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at least a hundred times and have never gone in. I’m not sure what I was thinking passing up this restaurant. They even have a bar located to the left of the main entrance, Tune In Lounge!

When you walk up to the Prime Time Cafe there is a bright neon sign for the lounge, Tune In Lounge, that you are able to enter at and walk up to the elaborate bar and order yourself a cocktail. The bar is set up to look like a vintage T.V. sales room with all sorts of sizes of vintage televisions above the liquor.

They do serve several different cocktails and mock-tails, unfortunately I did not try any this trip. Stay tuned for my Drinking Around Hollywood Studios to see some of the neat cocktails they serve.

Waiting Area

The waiting area at Prime Time Cafe has the appearance of a vintage living room. It is complete with sofas, lamps and televisions.

The waiting area is small and tight offering limited seating. If you are partaking of the Tune In Lounge it does share the same space as everyone waiting for their table. Therefore, noise level in the waiting area is rather loud, and it’s hard to hear when they call your name.

Seating at Prime Time Cafe is a little bit crowding. Thus, making it rather loud in the dining area. However, the atmosphere appears to be little dinning rooms all around. Each little nook is a different wallpaper and table. This made for a very unique dining experience that was very enjoyable.

Service at Prime Time Cafe

At first, I was a little taken aback by the staff and the “rudeness” or more “bluntness” of the staff. However, this is just how they are supposed to be and it is supposed to feel like you are eating with family and in some families that is how they act.

I did not like the fact that my waiter combined my table and another party of two together when taking out reservations. Unfortunately, that table was not prepared and had lots of questions. Consequently, I did learn that the plant based options do contain cheese.

Once my order was in it did take a bit of time to get my drink. Sadly, it was just a coke and that is hard to mess up. I did see others with amazing milkshakes and floats!

The Food

A Sampling of Moms Favorite Recipes, Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Meatloaf

I wanted to try everything. However, my stomach is not that big! So I had to compromise! The end result!?

The Sampling of Mom’s Favorite Recipes! Truly this is the best dish to get if you are going alone, or no one wants to share. Besides getting the delicious Traditional Meatloaf (My favorite), you also get a generous portion of Golden-fried chicken and Fork Tender Pot Roast. This meal included mashed potatoes with a flavorful gravy, green beans and celery and carrots.

Lets take a moment and discuss this gravy. I am a southern girl and I dislike brown gravy (know it might be a sin down here, lol). However, this gravy was life. It was seasoned and just blew my socks off!

Of course, all the food was amazing! I did want dessert my belly was so full of flavorful, warm, and hearty meats.

Service Part 2

After being at the restaurant for a few minutes, it came to my attention, I misjudged the service at Prime Time Cafe. The service was actually really good. To begin with he kept my glass filled, my food was quick and he check up on me! All of that makes me happy.

In My Humble Opinion

If you are seeking a more hearty and filling meal at Disney World. Then this is the place for you. Prime Time Cafe has large portions and friendly environment. We even sang Happy Birthday to someone! It is worth the price tag which is comparable to other Disney World Restaurants.
