7 Must-Do’s in Disney World’s Adventureland

Entry way to Adventureland

Disney World’s Adventureland is one of my favorite locations in the Magic Kingdom. During the day an excitement fills the area as the feeling of marketplace hustle-and-bustle looms around.

Yet, during the night the serene-like quietness of closed shops and darkened pathways can make the location romantic and classic.

There seems to be a bit of everything available in Adventureland at Walt Disney World, from quick-service bites to attractions and characters.

1. A Pirate’s Adventures: Treasures of The Seven Seas

A true hidden gem of Adventureland is the A Pirate’s Adventures: Treasures of the Seven Seas experience. Located between Adventureland and Frontierland, visit The Crow’s Nest for this interactive activity.

Use your magic bands or tickets to start the journey, then use the decoder to read the first map and complete various missions throughout Disney World’s Adventureland.

You may experience battles with pirates, charming snakes, and activating totem spirits, among many other thrilling experiences! Each map has five missions and when they’re completed you will need to visit The Crow’s Nest for their next map.

When two maps are completed, you will receive the ultimate prize…a FastPass to Pirates of the Caribbean!

I enjoyed this activity when it felt that the parks were either too busy or I was having an unplanned afternoon in the Disney park. A Pirate’s Adventures: Treasures of the Seven Seas is a free activity that takes about an hour to earn a FastPass.

What I love is that when I completed more maps beyond the two to get the FastPass, I received more FastPasses! At the end of the day, I had more FastPasses than what I knew what to do with and I had a great time earning them along the way.

2. DOLE Whip® In Disney World’s Adventureland

DOLE Whip® is a Disney World Adventureland staple. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the line at Aloha Isle where everyone is waiting. This pineapple soft serve is light, refreshing, and a must-do for every Disney park fan.

Disney recently began kicking their soft serve up a notch fun flavors and character-inspired designs. Not a fan of pineapple? Head over to Sunshine Tree Terrace for a Citrus Swirl, both are great treats for a hot, humid Florida day.

3. Jungle Cruise

The Jungle Cruise Expedition Sign

It is your turn to embark on a strange journey, filled with bad puns, animals, and the backside of water! Trek through African and Asian waters with your Skipper, on the Jungle Cruise, as they tell you about the elephant watering hole, an ancient temple, and the famous Trader Sam himself.

If you are to snag a FastPass for any attraction when in Adventureland, this is the ride. The queue can be entertaining when crowd levels are low. However, the winding lines are pretty narrow and can feel pretty tight. But if you are going to visit the Disney parks in winter or fall it is different. You can enjoy the queue and read all of the interesting (and very punny) signs!

As a fun bonus, during the holidays the Jungle Cruise transforms into the Jingle Cruise. Enjoy holiday puns and one-of-a-kind overlays that are exclusive to the season. I was overjoyed to ride the Jingle Cruise and recommend it to everyone.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean is a classic Walt Disney World attraction. This attraction has been at Walt Disney World since opening day. Hence, the reason why it is still a popular visit to this day. Do not worry, with the FastPass earned from A Pirate’s Adventures, you should have no problem zipping through this line.

Pirates of the Caribbean takes you back to the age of buccaneers as they pillage, plunder, rifle, and loot. I have noticed that when it is just myself or one other friend in the queue for the ride, we often get placed in the front or back seats as they are more narrow.

Being in the front, you can enjoy the action first hand. Therefore it makes it all the more fun for those sudden surprises! The back seat is nice if you and your partner are familiar with the ride. You can almost sit back, hand-in-hand, and relax.

5. Character Meet and Greets in Adventureland

Jack Sparrow, Aladdin, Jasmin, and Friends

Jack Sparrow, Aladdin, Jasmine, and friends all make special appearances in Adventureland. Captain Sparrow is witty, charming, and a little aloof. While Aladdin and Jasmine bring a friendly, playful charm to any interaction.

If you have a partner who loves either movie it is well worth the visit. I have even seen Genie and Abu at the character locations as well! You will find Aladdin and Jasmine close to The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Captain Jack Sparrow can be visited over by Pirates of the Caribbean.

6. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

The Enchanted Tiki Room in Magic Kingdom

Adventureland seems to have some of the most classic attractions available. Therefore we could leave out Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room! This show of singing birds, flowers, and tiki spirits run several times a day.

Similar to Country Bear Jamboree in Frontierland, you will be able to see the time for the next show at the beginning of the queue. As you wait for the doors to open, you’ll enjoy a pre-show featuring two chatty tropical birds.

Then, you’re guided to a seating area within a tiki hut and Jose starts the show. The lights come up and you’re serenaded and crooned by hundreds of birds and flowers to catchy Polynesian-inspired tunes. The show itself runs about 20-minutes. It also features various tunes that you are sure to be singing as you walk out of the building.

What I love about Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is the amount of detail that is throughout the queue and tiki hut. Even after seeing this show for probably my hundredth time I still love the details. Seeing the details on the tiki gods and totem poles and throughout the show it is amazing. Not only that, this show is a great way to stay cool. The building is air-conditioned for the animatronic actors.

7. Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse

Swiss Family Treehouse Entrance

If (for some reason) you weren’t getting your steps in walking around Walt Disney World, you will get your exercise at the Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse

While climbing many stairs on vacation may not sound appealing, the attraction boasts one of the best views of the Magic Kingdom. Classic Disney fans will enjoy the details surrounding the attraction from the movies as well. One of my favorite things is that treehouse. It almost has no wait time except during the busy season, like holidays and summer.

It is a rarity to find an attraction that has no wait time. So I am happy to climb some stairs and get the most out of my day.

Final Thoughts on Adventureland

You can never go wrong in Disney World’s Adventureland as there are so many things to do and see. At Magic Lamp Vacations they are able to help you customize a travel plan that maximizes your time in the park. This can include the fun Pirates Adventure as well!
